CHAPTER 1:THE BOY WHO FEARED LOSING

The Rajvansh mansion was unusually quiet that night.

Seven year old Dev sat on the cold marble floor outside his mother's bedroom his tiny hands wrapped around his knees.

He could hear voices downstairs men his father's men always whispering arguing talking about things Dev was too young to understand.

But he understood one thing his father was angry and whenever his father was angry something terrible happened.

Dev slowly pushed his mother's door open. Ananya Rajvansh was sitting beside the window staring into the dark.

She turned immediately her gentle eyes instantly softening."Dev? Tum abhi tak soye nahi?'

Dev ran toward her burying his face in her lap. "Maa papa phir se bahar ja rahe hain?"

Ananya gently ran her fingers through his hair hiding the slight tremble in her hands. "Haan beta."

"Phir woh kab aayenge?"

"Soon."

Dev looked up his chest heavy. "Maa... Papa ko kuch ho toh nahi jayega?"

For a moment

Ananya said nothing then she pulled a soft reassuring smile. "Dev tumhare Papa bahut strong hain."

Dev lowered his eyes his voice barely above a whisper. "Mujhe Papa ke jaane se darr nahi lagta Maa."

"Phir?"

His little fingers tightened around her saree holding on for dear life. "Mujhe aapse door hone se darr lagta hai."

Ananya's smile dissolved into raw emotion she pulled him fiercely into her chest. "Main kahin nahi jaungi kabhi nahi."

"Promise?" He reaches out his hand

"Promise."His mother said smilingly

Dev rested his head against her falling asleep to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat.

He didn't know that fear had already carved a permanent home inside him the agonizing fear of losing the people he loved.

Years later that very fear would make him ruthless.

YEARS PASSED

The frightened little boy disappeared

In his place stood a young man who understood the world far better than he ever wanted to

Dev Rajvansh.

His father Mahendra Rajvansh had built an big criminal empire money influence absolute power and alot enemies.

Dev grew up watching his father make cold deals watching men enter the mansion terrified and leave even more broken watching lifelong friendships turn into bloodbaths.

Slowly he learn a single non negotiable rule "trust was a luxury he couldn't afford."

At eighteen Dev stepped into the shadows beside his father.

At nineteen he commanded operations.

At twenty men bowed their heads when Dev spoke.

Then the empire shattered when mahendra Rajvansh died.

Dev was only twenty one when the crown was thrust onto his head the empire wasn't his father's anymore it was his and he would burn anyone who tried to take it.

-----------

PRESENT DAY

Heavy rain hammered relentlessly against the floor to ceiling glass of the Rajvansh headquarters.

Dev stood at the head of a massive mahogany table entirely in a tailored black suit.

The atmosphere in the room was suffocating. Nobody dared to breathe too loudly.

Kabir stepped forward carefully placing a black file on the table. "Dev."

Dev didn't even turn around.

His voice was an ice cold whip. "What."

"Warehouse three was hit."Kabir told him quickly

Dev's dark eyes slowly lifted locking onto Kabir with lethal precision. "Kitne log?"

"None of our men are critically injured." Kabir swallowed hard bracing himself. "The attackers pulled back fast."

"Attack kisne kiya?"He asked his voice very sharp.

"We... we don't have a confirmed name yet."

Dev leaned back his jaw clenching as a dark dangerous smirk touched his lips. "Toh phir tum mujhe kya bata rahe ho? That my security is a joke?"

Kabir lowered his head sweat cold on his neck. "We're figuring it out."

Dev stood up slowly towering over the room. "Figure out WHAT! kabir Find out."

THE WAREHOUSE

The storm raged violently as Dev's convoy pulled up to Warehouse three.

The massive structure stood isolated at the edge of the industrial district swallowed by shadows and abandoned factories.

No traffic no sirens no life.

Too quiet.

Dev stepped out into the pouring rain.

Rudra immediately rushed to his side his face tense."Sir."

Dev scanned the dark perimeter. "Security status?"

"Four men posted outside two guarding the vault inside."

"And Radio contact?"

"Dead. We lost them ten minutes ago."

Dev's eyes narrowed into slits. "Lost?"

Kabir stepped up behind them sheltering under an umbrella. "Maybe the storm killed the signal"

"Storms don't kill signals without a fight Kabir" Dev cut him off his voice laced with venom.

Above the entrance a solitary bulb flickered wildly.

On! Off!On!Off!

Dev unbuttoned his coat his body posture shifting into pure predator mode.

"Nobody moves until I give the command."

He kicked the heavy metal doors open.

Silence swallowed them whole the vast warehouse was a cavern of complete darkness echoing only with the rhythmic beat of rain against the iron roof dev stepped inside his deliberate footsteps clicking against the concrete floor.

Click!

He stopped dead in his tracks everyone behind him froze weapons instantly drawn.

Dev looked down smashed radio lay near his boot dripping with wet mud.

Rudra crouched down, his expression darkening. "It belongs to one of our guards."

Dev stared into the pitch black abyss ahead.

"Where's the man who was holding it?"

No response.

Kabir's breath hitched as he scanned the shadowy rafters above. "Dev... something is wrong."

Dev raised a single hand. "Quiet."

Every man held their breath.

Then came the sound a sharp deliberate metallic rattle from the high ceiling Clink!

Dev's gaze snapped upward nothing but shadows.

Clink! The sound echoed from the far right.

Dev's face transformed into an expression of absolute terrifying calm. "Lights. Now."

Rudra slammed his hand onto the main breaker switch.

High-voltage floodlights burst to life blinding the room for a split second.

Empty crates scattered paperwork broken equipment no bodies no attackers?

BOOM!

The main breaker blew instantly plunging the warehouse back into utter darkness.

"Nobody move a muscle," Dev ordered his voice echoing in the pitch black.

Seconds dragged like hours.

The tension was thick enough to choke on.

Suddenly a phone began to ring.

Not a cell phone a heavy mechanical landline buried deep inside the dark warehouse office.

Ring... Ring...

Dev slowly turned his head toward the sound his heart rate steady his eyes adapting to the dark.

The ringing stopped.

A static burst snapped through the warehouse overhead speakers followed by a voice dripping with calculated arrogance.

"Welcome to the game, Rajvansh."

Rudra instantly raised his gun toward the ceiling while Kabir took a protective step closer to Dev.

Dev didn't even flinch his voice pierced the dark calm and razor-sharp."Who the hell are you?"

A low, mocking laugh echoed off the steel walls. "You arrived faster than I calculated."

"You baited me here," Dev said stepping slowly toward the sound of the speaker. "So stop hiding like a coward and show yourself."

"Patience Dev not yet."

BANG!

A heavy iron shutter slammed down behind them sealing the entrance.

Before anyone could react, another shutter crashed down to their left then another.

They were locked in.

"Move!" Rudra roared drawing his weapon. "Clear the exits!"

The floodlights unexpectedly flared back to life exposing a dozen masked men dropping from the upper gantries.

Chaos erupted instantly shouted commands heavy boots echoing on metal crates splintering as Dev's bodyguards formed an impenetrable wall around him.

Dev didn't draw a gun he stood in the center of the storm his lethal gaze locked with the attackers' movements.

They weren't fighting to kill they were driving his men toward the perimeter.

"Rudra!" Dev barked over the noise.

"Sir?!"

"They're not trying to take us down! They're pulling you away from the control room!"

Rudra looked up noticing three masked men sprinting toward the central office. "The mainframe!"

"Intercept them!"

Rudra charged forward with three men tearing into the attackers.

Dev broke away from his security detail moving with terrifying speed toward the central office.

He kicked the door open sweeping the room.

Empty.

On the desk sat a single laptop its screen glowing intensely in the dim room.

A single file folder was highlighted:

RAJVANSH

Dev stepped up to the desk extending a hand toward the keyboard.

Before his fingers touched the keys, the screen flickered red.

The text vanished replaced by a single bold sentence:YOU'RE LOOKING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION DEV.

Dev stared at the screen his jaw tightening until the bone flexed.

Kabir burst into the room chest heaving gun raised. "Dev! Are you hit?!"

"Are our men secure?" Dev asked his voice disturbingly quiet.

"Yes! The attackers retreated through the back emergency hatches. They're gone!"

"All of them?"

"Every single one."

Dev slowly reached into his pocket pulling out the smashed communication device from earlier throwing it onto the desk beside the glowing laptop screen.

"They didn't come here for a fight Kabir."

Kabir frowned trying to catch his breath. "Then why launch an assault on our territory?!"

Dev's eyes turned to cold stone as he stared at the red message. "They came to measure us to see how fast I move how my men react and to prove they can walk into my house whenever they damn well please.*"

Kabir swallowed hard a chill running down his spine. "Someone is testing our security..."

"No" Dev corrected turning toward the door with an aura of pure lethal intent. "Someone is testing ME."

-----------------------

LATER THAT NIGHT...

The storm outside the Rajvansh mansion raged on.

Dev stood by the floor to ceiling windows of his study, a glass of dark liquor untouched in his hand.

His phone buzzed in his grip.

Rudra's name flashed on the screen dev

brought the phone to his ear. "Bol."

Silence met him on the line. Heavy,

suffocating silence.

Dev's eyes darkened. "Rudra? Speak."

"Sir..." Rudra's voice cracked with a rare, terrifying weight. "There's... an update."

Dev's posture went completely rigid. "What happened?"

Rudra took a long shaky breath. "Vikram Rathore."

The room seemed to drop ten degrees.

Dev's grip on his glass tightened so hard the crystal groaned under the pressure. "Rathore?"

"He just executed one of our senior enforcers," Rudra whispered.

Silence stretched between them, heavy as lead.

"Naam?" Dev demanded, his voice dropping into a lethal register.

"Arjun."

Dev closed his eyes. Arjun a man who had stood like a pillar beside his father a man who had protected the Rajvansh name for over twenty years.

Dev opened his eyes and the warmth in them was entirely gone. "Why?"

"We don't know sir rathore's men hit his vehicle twenty minutes ago no warning no negotiation."

Dev turned slowly away from the window. "Vikram Rathore ne mere aadmi ko kyun maara?"

"We're trying to track the motive"

"I don't care about the motive!" Dev's voice exploded like thunder echoing off the high ceilings of the study.

He reined his anger back in instantly, returning to a terrifying whisper. "I care about the insult."

Memories flooded his mind his father Mahendra Rajvansh sitting across from Vikram Rathore sharing drinks calling him brother.

Vikram was the man his father trusted most. The man who swore an oath to protect the

Rajvansh name.

And now that same man had drawn Ra

jvansh blood.

"Rudra."

"Yes sir?"

"Gaadi nikalo."
